Mandalas are geometric pieces of art that symbolize the cosmogram of the universe in Hinduism and Buddhism. The company's new work for six dancers is inspired byt the traditions of the Tibetan Sand Mandala in Buddhism and the Devi Yantra in Hinduism. Through dance, live music, projections and visual design, this 60 minute work is inspired by the construction of the mandala - it's geometrical design, its layering of patterns, the subtle interplay of colored sand and the focused attention to detail, all through the movement syntax of contemporary Bharatanatyam.
